Pictures!
Meagan has uploaded some pictures from our first two weeks here. Here is the link, http://picasaweb.google.com/114343566893152925273/UgandaWeek12010?feat=directlink But I will also post the link on the right had side of the blog for future use.
My partner, Meagan Brown, and I are applied medical anthropologists, which is the study of medical systems, health, and disease in different cultures. We also study how health might be improved for people in different cultures. We have been asked to do an evaluation of an HIV education program for children. The education program was developed by the Savannah Sunrise Foundation, which is a non-profit organization based out of Kampala, Uganda. This summer Meagan and I will be living in Kampala for June and July to begin the next stages of our evaluation. Our major goals for this summer are to wrap up our evaluation and set up SAS to continue to evaluate themselves successfully. We also plan to do some traveling around the country to see the different places where the program has been implemented over the past year. For sure we will be traveling to Gulu, but a couple of other places are in the works. Below I have placed a couple of links if you are interested in learning more about Uganda and the people we will be working with.
