Hey Ginger - its mom Sorry I haven't been in touch but I was out at the point for two days unexpectadly with no cell phone or computer. We had a nice fourth. We went out on the houseboat on Saturday. We almost didn't make it as Uncle Michael's boat was taking on water on Friday. Uncle Bill fixed the problem and all was safe. Christopher got a concussion wake boarding, but seems to be doing well. Michael got sick on the 4th with a 24 hour bug and Aunt Helen Mary had some sort of infection with fever. It wouldn't be a Halphen holiday without someone being sick. Aunt Renee and the kids are in. We went to see Karate Kid yesterday. It was fun to have the kids to myself. Granny and Pop's router was out so I couldn't post to the blog. Granny fixed it today ---- sort of. I will be heading back to Gulfport tomorrow. I spent some time with my girlfriends last night. My friend with cance always cooks when I come in. It makes me feel bad but I think it is easier for her. IT looks like you had a wonderful birthday. Lots of friends, food nd fun. I am so proud of you. You are a special person. Take Care. I will call you this weekend. Love mom
It is Friday again - the Broud's are coming to Baton Rouge today to wind down their trip to Louisiana. They fly back to Charlotte tomorrow. We are having a pizza party tonight with the cousins and hoping to have the kids show us their dives at the pool. Apparerently , Clare is quite an accomplished diver.
I enjoyed all of your new pictures -it is great to actually "see" what you are doing. I can't wait to hear more when you get back.
If you have an interest in hooking up with the Episcopal Diocese of Mississippi clinic in Uganda for any reason, drop me a note at rcnnolly@memphis.edu. I can assist with introductions.
My partner, Meagan Brown, and I are applied medical anthropologists, which is the study of medical systems, health, and disease in different cultures. We also study how health might be improved for people in different cultures. We have been asked to do an evaluation of an HIV education program for children. The education program was developed by the Savannah Sunrise Foundation, which is a non-profit organization based out of Kampala, Uganda. This summer Meagan and I will be living in Kampala for June and July to begin the next stages of our evaluation. Our major goals for this summer are to wrap up our evaluation and set up SAS to continue to evaluate themselves successfully. We also plan to do some traveling around the country to see the different places where the program has been implemented over the past year. For sure we will be traveling to Gulu, but a couple of other places are in the works. Below I have placed a couple of links if you are interested in learning more about Uganda and the people we will be working with.
